Basic Knowledge

Here are some general tips for line-dancing!

  • Be Patient, learning takes time!

  • Back Yourself! You won’t get everything in the first week or first class, it can take time. Focus on learning the steps, patterns and terminology, then you’ll be a real pro!

  • Attend regularly, this will help with memorising the steps, dance names and music.

  • Don’t compare yourself to anyone else, everyone is at different stages in their dancing journey.

  • If you aren’t getting a step or dance, don’t hesistate to call out. We are always happy to help. If you don’t call out, someone else will for you.

  • If you decide to bring kids along, please make sure that they are supervised! :)

What Do I Wear?

Anything comfortable! T-shirts, dresses, skirts, shorts… anything you may desire! Just make sure you can dance in it. We do advise that dresses/skirts don’t leave a trail as we don’t want anyone to step on those. We also do advise for enclosed shoes to be worn whether that is dance shoes, boots, sneakers/joggers, as we don’t want your toes to be stepped on or anyone else’s.

Just yourself, a drink bottle and a snack if needed! You never know when you might get a bit hungry. We do have a kitchen available if you wish to put your bottle or snack in there, just don’t forget about it!

Do I Need To Bring Anything?

  • Try to stay in line, and at least an arm’s length away from another dancer, this saves you bumping into another person.

  • If you want to give a dance a try in class, but unsure if you know the steps… Jump in the middle! This way you will have someone to watch on every wall so you can pick it up!

  • If a dance is already playing at a social(or in class), please don’t run into the middle of the dancers or into a position where individuals may already be dancing. Choose a space on the sides as this will help with preventing an accident.

  • Make sure to take small steps, this helps with moving on to the next step in a sequence.

  • Please no food or drinks while dancing, we don’t want any spills.

  • Those who have been dancing for a while, be kind to the beginners, we were all at this stage before, share the kindness!!

  • Lastly and most importantly… Have fun, smile and have a laugh with some great friends!
